Replace a voiceover

Gareth Casey Updated by Gareth Casey

If you make a narrated screen recording but decide that you don't like the voiceover that you recorded, you can easily either re-record it or replace it with an A.I. voiceover that is based on your original voicever.

When re-recording a voiceover or creating an A.I. voiceover, the new audio clip will only contain your new voiceover. If the original audio also included other sounds, such as music or sound effects, these will not be included in the new voiceover and will be lost if the original voiceover is replaced.

Creating a new voiceover

If you have a microphone, you can simply record a new voiceover while watching the video. Anthing you say while the video plays, will be recorded into the new audio clip:

  1. Select the point on the Timeline where you want to start recording from.
  2. Click the Voiceover button above the Timeline to open the Voiceover Recorder.
  3. Make sure that the correct mircophone is selected in the dropdown menu and then click the Record button to start recording.
  4. Stop recording by either clicking the Stop button or waiting for playback to reach the end of the project.

Creating an A.I. voiceover

By using the A.I. Voice Changer feature, you can create a new audio clip that contains the A.I. voiceover:

  1. Go to the Audio tab of the Media Panel in the Project Editor.
  2. Click and drag the A.I. Voice Changer object onto the audio track that contains your original voiceover.
  3. Select which A.I. voice will be used for the new voiceover. To help you choose, you can play a quick sample of each voice by clicking the Play button next to the name.
  4. Click Generate A.I. Voice to create the new voiceover. Depending on how long the voiceover is, this may take a little bit of time.

Replace the original voiceover

Regardless of whether your recorded yourself or created an A.I. voiceover, you will now have two voiceovers in your project; the original voiceover and the new voice over.

If you are sure that you no longer want the original voice over, you will need to either set the volume of that audio clip to 0% or delete it.

However, you may first need to extract the audio for the original voiceover from the video clip it is part of:

  1. Right click on the video clip.
  2. Select Detach audio.
  3. Click on the new audio clip that appears and either:
    1. Press the Delete key to delete it.
    2. Set the Volume slider in the Style Panel to 0%.
