Turbo Conversion
Updated by Gareth Casey
A number of different formats use either h264 or h265 encoding. Video Converter can take advantage of this when using the Same as source option to convert h264-encoded videos into other h264 formats or to convert h265-encoded videos into other h265 formats.
Input Video Format | Video Encoder | Converted Video Format |
MP4, M4V, MKV, MOV | h264 | MP4, M4V, MKV, MOV |
MP4, MKV | h265 | MP4 (HEVC), MKV (HEVC) |
For these videos, where the encoding of the video does not need to be changed, Video Converter can use Turbo Conversion to significantly speed up the conversion process by skipping the re-encoding step.
In addition to when the Same as source option is used, Turbo Conversion may also be available if you select custom format settings that exactly match the resolution and frame rate of the original video and have the quality set to Max.
When Turbo Conversion is available, the Turbo Compatible indicator will appear in the videos details.
Videos creating using Turbo Conversion will always be lossless quality, meaning that will be the maximum possible quality with no compression applied to the image.
Turbo conversion is not available when applying any effects or cropping to a video but can stil be used when creating clips.
