Make a clip from a recording
Updated by Gareth Casey
When you review a video that you have recorded with Flashback Express 7, you may find that there is some video at the start or end that you don't want to be there, or perhaps it might even be in the middle. Instead of being forced to keep the unwanted sections of video, you can trim the video down to just the part that you want to keep by making a clip.
Removing the ends of video
- On the Hub, click on the thumbnail for the project that contains the video or recording that you want to make a clip from. The project will be opened in the Project Editor.
- If you have opened a project that was created from a new recording, the recording will have already been added to the project's Timeline. Otherwise, you can use the Media Panel to import any other video into your project andthen drag it to the Timeline.
- Do either of the following:
- Simply hover the mouse cursor over the end of the Timeline object and then click and drag to shorten the clip until just the section that you want to keep remains.
- Move to the start or end of the unwanted section on the TImeline and click Split to create two separate clips. Then select the clip containing the unwanted section and press the Delete key.
- If you removed the start of the video, drag the remaining clip along the Timeline until it begins at the very start of the Timeline.
- When you are happy with what you have, click the Export button in the top right of the Project Editor to save your clip as a new MP4 or MKV file.
Removing the middle of a video
- On the Hub, click on the thumbnail for the project that contains the video or recording that you want to make a clip from. The project will be opened in the Project Editor.
- If you have opened a project that was created from a new recording, the recording will have already been added to the project's Timeline. Otherwise, you can use the Media Panel to import any other video into your project andthen drag it to the Timeline.
- Move to the start of that section on the Timline and clicked Split.
- Then move to the end of the section and click Split again. This will create 3 small clips; the start and end, which you want to keep, and one in the middle that needs to be deleted.
- Click on the middle clip (the section that is unwanted) and then press the Delete key to delete it.
- Drag the end clip along the Timeline so that it is next to the start clip ( if you drag it so that it slightly overlaps, it will automatically set so that there is no gap between the two clips)
- When you are happy with what you have, click the Export button in the top right of the Project Editor to save your clip as a new MP4 or MKV file.
